LIVE MUSIC
THE PLATE SCRAPERS
Born from the tradition of Bluegrass jams and potlucks, The Plate Scrapers — Derek Kretzer (banjo), Andrew Jordan (guitar), Robbie Mann (fiddle), Jody Mosser (dobro), and Kevin Johnson (bass) — have been putting in the work and showcasing their love for the genre since 2014. They have since released 3 studio albums, 3 live albums, and have toured relentlessly up and down the east coast and into the midwest. In 2019, they won the Podunk Bluegrass Telefunken Band Contest. They have been featured on WAMU Bluegrass Country Radio, performed as an IBMA Official Showcase artist, and their latest release, Destination Horizon (2020) debuted at #9 on the Bluegrass Album Billboard charts with rave reviews from Bluegrass Today.
As a band that strives to maintain a healthy equilibrium between their diverse musical backgrounds and the traditional Appalachian sounds, they have wowed audiences across the entire spectrum. This progressively minded Bluegrass act truly feels at home on any stage. They’ve provided direct support for bluegrass legends such as The Seldom Scene, Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, and Larry Keel. On the other side of that coin, they aren’t afraid to get weird at a late night festival slot and have become well known for their tastefully balanced and refreshingly diverse song-writing. Catch their live show and you’ll be sure to receive a full helping of hard-driving bluegrass favorites and heart-wrenching country ballads. Dig into their recorded originals, however, and you’ll find tracks ranging from thoughtful folk lyricism to gritty tales of harrowing adventure.
The Plate Scrapers passion for bluegrass and performing shines thru their music and performances. Such is evident in their musical prowess and creative chemistry on stage, guaranteeing a unique and immersive experience each time. The band continues to be fueled by loyal fans and an unrelenting drive to continue moving forward…casually.
DJ HEADY BRAH
Baltimore’s DJ Heady Brah brings his deep crates of vinyl to Frederick. Spinning a collection of vintage funk, R&B, Reggae, Afrobeat and more, DJ Heady Brah will keep the vibes high and your feet moving as you sip the day away.
TIMMIE METZ
Timmie Metz is a rock & soul singer, guitar player and band leader hailing from the Washington D.C./Baltimore/Annapolis area. With a soulful, slightly gravelly, voice that rings of Chris Stapleton, Marvin Gaye, Van Morrison and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Timmie loves to entertain. “My main goal is to get family & friends on their feet with their children, dancing. There is nothing better.”
PLAID THE BUFFALO
Plaid The Buffalo, otherwise known as JB Dunn, is a singer/songwriter from Frederick, Maryland.
His particular brand of neofolk and alt-country is a unique mix of melancholy and hopeful, with a wide range of influences.
DAVID ANDREW SMITH
After studying music composition and performance at Salisbury University, Smith migrated from the small-town atmosphere of his youth on the Eastern Shore of Maryland to the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, where he has since been playing music for a living. He now performs regularly along the mid-Atlantic region of the US, occasionally touring in other parts of the country as well. In the process, he has developed a strong fan base and attracted attention from many well-known names in the music industry and beyond, from Performing Songwriter magazine to Dean Dinning of Toad the Wet Sprocket to Ben Stein.
With his addictive melodies, a soulful vocal style and an off-the-beaten-path kind of pop-sensibility, Smith is steadily becoming a well-known performer on the East Coast. He has shared the stage with/opened for an eclectic mix of acts both solo and with his full band, including Maroon 5, Toby Keith, Owl City, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Night Ranger, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Thrice, Story of the Year, The Bouncing Souls, Eric Hutchinson, Graham Colton and Virginia Coalition. He has also been a featured act for the Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and the Citi Open (formerly the Legg Mason Tennis Classic).
SKRIBE
American rock singer Skribe, who is from Annapolis, Maryland, smoothly incorporates folk rock elements into his music to produce a distinctive and alluring sound. Skribe has established a place for himself in the music business with his sincere lyrics and soul-stirring songs.
Skribe’s music connects with listeners on a profound and emotional level because it draws inspiration from the rich traditions of both rock and folk music. Few musicians have the ability to connect with audiences the way he does thanks to his raw and genuine approach to songwriting. Skribe’s gruff voice gives his music a raw, soulful tone that heightens the emotional impact of his compositions.
Skribe’s music, which combines rock and folk elements, has a timeless character that appeals to a broad audience. His music has a nostalgic quality to it that is evocative of the folk rock greats that came before him. Skribe’s music gives listeners warmth and tranquility, making it the ideal background for contemplation and introspection.
Skribe has made a name for himself in the music business by fusing rock and folk in a distinctive way. In addition to his tremendous talent, what distinguishes him from his contemporaries is his capacity to convey engaging stories through his music. Skribe’s music is a testament to both his musicianship and the potency of storytelling.
